Christmas in November

Sometimes we feel like we have to wait until December to show our Christmas enthusiasm because let’s get real – it’s typical rainy November weather here in Vancouver, but we found a way to bring the Christmas spirit to you anyways! We have a hidden secret to share with you: Capilano Suspension bridge in November. This park is known for its Canyon img_0059Lights Christmas Spectacle in December, however by the time November rolls around, the staff have already put up the lights of the display. So although the park hours aren’t as late as in December (only open until 5 in November) very few people know that the lights are already up and they can get it practically to themselves. The bridge has been there for over 127 years, making it one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions. You start by crossing the main bridge lined with thousands of twinkling lights. You are then led around a pond with dozens of glowing orbs suspended above the water. You may then proceed to the treetop bridges, which too are lit by thousands of golden rays. If you go around 4:30, you get to experience the spectacle at dusk and then into the sunset (around 4:45) when the bulbs stand out in the dark all before the park closes at 5pm. Prices vary from 13-40$, however for BC residents, you may get an annual pass for the same priceimg_0065 as a night ticket. When we went, there were only a handful of other people there, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Don’t forget your rain jacket! All in all, this is the ultimate place to get you into the christmas spirit in November.

Until next week,

Mihaela and Leigh
